Hydrapak Stash, a collapsible water bottle

When going on an outdoor trip, every inch of your bag must be put to its most efficient use. That’s when a collapsible bottle can come in handy. This one has an advantage compared to other models: when you fill it with water, it gets a straight shape and stands free (it also has a loop to attach it to your bag or clothes). But once empty, you can compress it so it fits in your pocket or backpack easily (for the size of a hockey puck, roughly).

Once compressed, the ability to lock the top and bottom of the bottle ensure that it will stay compressed wherever you put it. It’s easy to open (even though it might be tricky the first times, you will quickly get used to it), but difficult to wash without a washing machine, even though its large opening makes it easier than with other similar bottles.

The Hydrapak Stash is fairly resistant and has a “no leak” lifetime warranty. However, it is unfortunately vulnerable to smells and mold: don’t forget to clean it regularly and meticulously. It has no valve to drink without opening the bottle and is better used with both hands due to its size. A bit of a drawback for the most intense activities, but it’s free-standing shape as well as durability make this Hydrapak Stash a sure choice for summer excursions.
