ISPO Awards 2016 (outdoor) : jackets

The ISPO 2016 has finally begun, and while the newest products of the industry are announced, let’s have a look at the winners of the 2016 ISPO awards in the outdoor category. We found a lot of interesting jackets this year, starting with the Blackyak brand who provided us with 4 Gold Winning products this year !
In the Mid Layer category, the Hybrid Insulation Jacket from Blackyack impressed the jury with its features. The use of various insulation materials (Primaloft Gold, Polartec Alpha, goose down) makes for a versatile jacket who can handle most low attitude situations. The Emergency Jacket (in the Outler Layer 1L category) is an extra-light jacket that can be put in any small bag and offers a good protection against the elements. Blackyack was also able to win the gold award in the Outer Layer 2L category with its Light Down Insulation Stretch Jacket. The product offers good looks while providing a reliable wind protection. Last but not least, Blackyack scored its last gold award in the Down & Thermal Insulation category. The Hooded Active Down Jacket features a lightweight cordura fabric for a breathable, weather protected jacket.

The Gold Awards were celebrating Blackyack products, but 2 jackets from different brands still managed to sneak in the podium. Berghaus and its sturdy Extrem 8000 Pro Jacket (which we already mentioned in our ISPO 2016 coverage) were awarded in the Outer Layer 3L category, while the Lifestyle & Fashion gold award was attributed to Ternua and its Terranova & South River Jacket. The jury praised the elegance of the parka, while focusing on the great mix of the Neokdun and Gore-tex fabrics.

The Fjällräven Lappland Eco-Shell Poncho won the Outer Layer 3L award as a comfortable, elegant and eco-friendly jacket. The Mid Layer category saw yet another victory of Blackyack with its Light Windbreaker Vest. Arc’Teryx was able to get noticed in the Outler Layer 2 L category with its Alpha SV Jacket, featuring a self-sealing zipper slider and a 8mm seam tape. In the Down & Thermal Insulation category, the Salewa Ortles Heavy Down made an impression along with the Mammut Runbold Advanced IN Hooded Jacket (made with the Mammut ALPINE WOOL insulation fleece). Last but not least, the Shoreditch 3in1 by Jack Wolfskin won the Lifestyle & Fashion award with an excellent design that matches its breathability and resistance to the elements.
