Linky: a foldable electric longboard that fits in a bag

Discover the Linky, an eco sustainable, easy to carry around and fun to ride longboard that is currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign.

Longboards are a great way to move around. Because of wheel size and their length, they allow riders to go faster than with a skateboard and to cruise in straight lines. But when not in use, they are cumbersome and not easy to carry. With this problem in mind, a group of Italian entrepreneurs created the Linky.

The Linky is a foldable electric longboard that gets out of your way when you’re not using it. It fits in a bag, and you can therefore easily carry it around with you. It is made from high-strength polymer, combined with a deck made from carbon fiber and bamboo, and it weights only 4.9 Kg. Its long life lithium battery charges quite fast – it charges to 85% of its capacity in 30 minutes – and a one 60-minute charge should be enough to ride 15 Km at a maximum speed of 30 Km/h. The Linky is powerful and can go up 10% hills with 160 kg of load. Speed and braking are controlled using a wireless remote, which includes a retractable strap.

The longboard comes with one of three custom designed backpacks – two knapsacks, and a travel bag in which you can store extra stuff, apart from the board itself.

All of this looks good on paper, and we really hope that the team behind the Linky will manage to collect the necessary funds to go on with their project. If everything goes according to plans, you’ll be able to get the Linky with its backpack for 899 €. Other deals are of course available on the Kickstarter page, and shipments are planned to be made between December 2016 and February 2017.
