Get ready for the next down revolution with THINDOWN

Eddie Bauer announced in a press release today the introduction of the new EverTherm Down jacket, first featuring the THINDOWN technology.

After the breakthrough of water-repellent down, THINDOWN might well be the next big thing in insulation.

One of the major problems for manufacturers is to hold the down in place. Until now it required baffles, creating complicated constructions and cold spots.

THINDOWN, the first down “fabric”

THINDOWN developed in Italy a new down “fabric”. They sandwich feathers between two panels of lightweight scrim, which allows the material to stay homogeneous. Sheets of THINDOWN can be inserted in any type of garment, from leather to wool. And because it does not require the baffles, it is fashionably more versatile.

Eddie Bauer, the alpinist, pioneered in 1936 the first down jacket for outdoor sports. It is fitting that the company of the same name created a new revolutionary down jacket today.

“Since 1920 Eddie Bauer has been an innovation leader in outerwear and gear. The EverTherm Down Jacket is a transformative step forward in insulation technology. It will change forever the way people think about down.”

said Mike Egeck, Chief Executive Officer at Eddie Bauer.
