Montane Air jacket has a fitting name for its weight

Montane’s new Air jacket is one of their lightest waterproof breathable. It confirms the brand is serious about the ultra light market.

Montane have been committed to making ultra light gear for the past few collections and this Spring Summer will be no different with the release of the Air jacket.

The Air is a minimalist waterproof-breathable hard shell using the new Pertex Shield AP. This is the latest fabric in Pertex’s arsenal. It has a 20,000mm hydrostatic head and weighs only 85g/m². The face fabric is 100% nylon rip-stop. This makes the men Montane Air weight only 350g and the women version 300g.

The jacket comes with a peak-wired, 3 point adjusted and helmet compatible hood. Contrary to similar jackets from other brands it also features 2 map-sized hand pockets with YKK matte AquaGuard and positioned high enough to stay clear of backpack belts and harnesses. The Montane Air jacket also has a chest pocket for a GPS or mobile phone.

The combination of pocket placement, helmet compatible hood and lightness could turn the Montane Air into the perfect emergency jacket for climbing and mountaineering. RRP: £200 / 270€. Available now.
