Montane FW14/15, highlights from ISPO

Montane

Talking to the guys at Montane’s booth in Munich for the ISPO, we got to see a lot of great new kit coming this fall/winter as well as some of the already announced stuff for spring summer.

The most interesting piece was undoubtedly the Axion Neo Alpha jacket. This is the first jacket to pair Polartec’s NeoShell waterproof fabric and the Alpha insulation. This clearly sets the Axion as a super-breathable winter shell for high output activities. Most important features are helmet compatible hood, removable snow skirt and two way waterproof front zip. Weights 980g / 34.6oz in size M.

Let’s continue with the Chonos Ultra Down, a fantastic Pertex Quantum Y Yarn and 250g / 800+ fill power down jacket. Treated Super 100 DWR on the outside to provide long lasting water shedding abilities and Pertex Quantum Rip-stop lining to cut down the weight. The loft on this jacket is incredible and it compresses very well. Montane are also working on getting the down used in all their products certified coming fromĀ  Non-Live-Plucked, Non-Force-Fed animals. The Chonos Ultra Down weights 650g / 23oz in M and comes with its own waterproof stuff sack.

Last for FW14/15 highlights are the Prism Mitts, Pertex Microlight Rip-Stop windproof mitts with Primaloft Gold insulation. They are incredibly lightweight and stuff into a tiny stuff sack. Great to carry in case of bad weather. 46g / 1.6oz in M.

Some of the stuff from the Spring Summer collection was also on show. We got a close look at the new range of sleeping bags and their recognisable foot box. We’ll remember the Minimus, an ultra light waterproof down sleeping bag rated for -2C / 28F using 800+ fill goose down and a Pertex Shield + outer fabric. We also liked the range of running vests from the Dragon 20L to the jaws 10L and Fang 5L, all super lightweight and packed full of features for the long distance runners out there.
