New Patagonia Nano Air jacket with new type of insulation

Insulation is probably where most brands try to innovate year after year. The battle to get the warmest most resistant and compressible material will never end. Patagonia have taken a different route than most and developed their own insulation fill. It’s called the FullRange.

FullRange is what you will find in the new Nano-Air insulated jacket. It’s a synthetic fill of 100% polyester. Patagonia also say it can stretch. That’s how they envisioned this new jacket. A super stretchy and breathable top for high output activities like climbing or ski touring. Akin to a Nano Puff, it’s meant to be a light insulation piece. The slim fit allows for layering under a hardshell or a heavier down jacket in very cold weather.

The 60g of FullRange insulation are sandwiched between Nylon Ripstop, DWR coated fabrics for water repellency. What you get in breathability you loose in wind protection it has been reported. The Nano Air is not 100% windproof. Maybe look at it as a fleece with better rain protection. It’s something new, and we haven’t had first hand experience with it, but it looks promising.

Until we get a review sample you can find most info on Patagonia’s dedicated website.
