POC is adding new SPIN tech, goggle lens and baselayer to its range of protections

POC is an innovative manufacturer of ski and cycling protections whose mission is to save lives and reduce accident gravity. They’ve just come up with an interesting new tech for their helmet range. It’s called SPIN and it was created to counter the effects of oblique and rotational impacts to the head.

“The POC mission is at the center of our development process and I am proud to see this evident in our new helmet and goggle technology. I am particularly excited to introduce SPIN, as it is at the very heart of our mission and introduces a new level of helmet technology, comfort and protection.”

Jonas Sjögren, POC CEO.

SPIN is technology that uses special pads inside the helmet. During an impact, the pads can shear in any direction. This allows the helmet to rotate while keeping your head steadier and minimize the effect of an oblique fall. The potential is interesting and all the new POC helmets can benefit for the technology. 2017-2018 will see it used in 5 of the company’s snow sports helmets.

POC is also releasing a new lens, developed in partnership with Zeiss, called Clarity. The lens as been specifically tuned for high contrast and light and will launch with the new Orb goggle and some other existing models.

And because saving lives also involves body protections, POC is debuting for 2017-2018 a new baselayer to protect against cuts and abrasions.
