Project 360, the alpine version of Google Street View?

The Project360 is a virtual experience allowing you to climb some of the most famous alpine routes from the safety of your computer. Ideal for the wanabee alpine climbers who would like to gather some experience, or for any curious mountain lover!

01

The team was composed of 3 swiss climbers, who took pictures all the way to the top with their specialized gear, taking advantage of the april light (with their 17.5lbs backpacks!). A very special photographic gear was designed to gather the pictures. With 6 outdoor cameras (mounted on a 360 panoramic rig and each pointing on a different direction) and a telescopic camera arm, coupled with a constant GPS monitoring, the Mammut team was able to provide a fully immersive experience in the alps.

02

The Project 360 virtual climbing experience offers 5 different alpine routes: El capitan, Eiger, Matterhorn, Elbrus and Rübezahl. More climbing routes should be made available soon. The Mammut brand worked hand in hand with Concept360, a company specialized in panoramic photography. The swiss manufacturer, known for its alpine and climbing gear, sponsored and led the project, a good way to communicate about their products. Although the quality of the photographies is excellent, we regret that the Project 360 still feels more like an alpine street view than a real climbing simulator.
