Vargo’s new Ultimate Fire Starter might be the perfect companion for any adventurer who wishes to start a fire anywhere regardless of conditions, even with stubborn or wet wood.
There are a lot of different fire starters out there on the market. Some use electricity to generate heat to cause combustion, others create hot sparks, while others generate flames. But most of them have one major flaw. Fire needs three things to exist and survive: fuel, heat, and oxygen. If any of those is missing or lacking, there will be no fire or you won’t be able to grow it. Most of the fire starters only address one of those three elements: heat. And that’s why a lot of them aren’t good at what they are supposed to do.
The Ultimate Fire Starter provides everything you need to start a fire except the fuel. You’ll just have to unscrew the ferrocerium rod from the bellows and use the integrated scraper to ignite any tinder. The ferrocerium rod creates sparks over 2,760°C to ignite any tinder, and is good for 1000s of strikes with the built in hexagon striker. Then, by extending the bellows, you’ll be able to blow in the fire starter in order to grow the fire. This will increase the flow of oxygen to the fire and, thus, increase its heat.
The stainless steel bellows extend to 464 mm to keep you safely from the fire while pinpointing airflow, yet collapses down to 152 mm. It even comes with a carrying clip for easy access and to make it easy to carry around.
