Better than a GoPro ? It might be hard to say at that moment, but we can already confirm that it will be smaller. The camera uses a 4/3 micro lens mount, compatible with lenses from several major brands (Panasonic, Sigma, Olympus and Leica). It can capture videos up to a 4096×2160 resolution.
The E1 cam uses a motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) that eliminates noise from the pictures, as well as allowing shooting in dark environments. Its compatibility with mobile applications (for iOs and Android users, with Wi-Fi 802.11N support) will allow you to remotely control the camera, while the flexible tripod mount bundled with the camera already triggered our curiosity.
Manufactured by a new company named Z (founded by Jason Zheng, former GoPro employee),the E1 camera already gathered more than $250,000 on Kickstarter. And even though we will have to wait for a complete review to compare it with the latest GoPro, it is safe to say that the leading brand got itself a pretty serious competitor.
Price : $700 for the camera (€634, £448)
$1000 bundled with a Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 lens (€905, £640)
