Black Diamond Spring 2018 collection preview

Some big news for Black Diamond coming next Spring with a new product category as well as some new or improved items. Even a headlamp for kids with full rainbow colours.

New climbing shoe line

Let’s start with the interesting new product line: climbing shoes. Yes, up until now, the Utah based company well know for all things climbing did not actually make climbing shoes. This will be resolved this spring with a line of 8 products, 4 for men, 3 for women and 1 for kids.

The line is said to range from new-comers to advanced with a strong focus on the new young and urban crowd, going climbing for physical fitness rather than performance. The soles will be made of BD’s own NeoFriction rubber. The upper material is said to focus on breathability with a special knitted construction.

In addition to the shoes, Black Diamond is adding 7 new ropes to its recently launch line. They are said to add all types of models, from indoor climbing to big walls and expeditions.

BD.dry in clothing

Spring 2018 will also see the use of BD.dry, the company’s own waterproof technology, in new products. Until now exclusively present in gloves, BD.dry will be introduced in rain protections like the Fineline Stretch rain jacket pictured below. BD.dry clothing will be split in to lines, StormLine and FineLine, both waterproof, breathable and stretchy with 2.5-layers construction.

All Z poles will also be upgraded to a new locking mechanism and a the new Distance Plus FLZ will also make its debut.

Last but not least is the kids department with a new Momentum harness and the previously mentioned headlamp, called WIZ. 30 lumens, IPX4 and full range of colours. Perfect to read a book in the tent.
