The Grom hammock from RADD, now on Kickstarter

Another hammock on Kickstarter? Yes, but hey, when you setup a new gear company you’ve got to start somewhere. The guys at RADD are making an affordable made-in-the-US hammock for recreational use, check it out.

Far from being an original item nowadays, the outdoor hammock is still growing in popularity year after year. The young company RADD, acronym for Relax and Do Designs, is debuting its first product on Kickstarter in the form of a simple hammock.

Called the Grom, it weighs with straps and bag 22oz and is made of 70D ripstop nylon, for a maximum weight capacity of 450lb (200Kg). This is a good ratio by lightweight hammock standards.

The Kickstarter price of $80 position it well between ultralight options like Humming Bird Single (with straps: 7.1oz, 300lb max weight, $105) and more robust ones like the ENO DoubleNest (with straps: 29oz, 400lb max weight, $100).

If you’re in the market for a sturdy hammock check out RADD’s campaign on Kickstarter and help out a young company get started.
