Kelly Slater crowned ASP Champion for the 10th time

When for us, in the north hemisphere it’s all about the snow right now, somewhere else people are enjoying themselves surfing.

The Rip Curl Surf Pro, which finished on November 6th saw Kelly Slater win his 10th World title. The Quiksilver sponsored surfer, now 38, is also the oldest to have won the ASP World Champion title.

“It’s been the most stressful title I’ve ever had, because it’s sort of an unknown place and you know at my age people say ‘you shouldn’t be doing this.’ And all the young guys are getting better and it’s a challenge to believe in yourself and not believe what other people tell you. I know how good Jordy, Dane, Mick, Taj and all those guys are, and it’s a marathon, you know? It’s not one wave, it’s not one manoeuvre, it’s not one contest. It’s a year-long thing and I know how to focus and it came together and I’m just so relieved.”

Says Kelly after his victory.

For the record, the board Kelly is using is has been designed by himself, and it seems to be proving good. Have a look at the best moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oPBIDWPtOs
