Merrel goes Barefoot with new shoe range

Well well well, what have we got here. Merrel has been teasing us for while now about its barefoot collection but the wait is over. The new barefoot line is out!

With 3 different models for men and 3 for women, the big M is certainly off to a good start. Running barefoot is not something new, and other before them have had a go at releasing specially designed shoes, like the well known Vibram FiveFingers. What Merrell can achieve here is to bring them mainstream, with a more conventional design and a big promotional campaign.

The first model, named Trail Glove (men) and Pace Glove (women) are for the barefoot trail runners, with a closed design and more resistant upper fabric. The sole, like the other models in the range is made by Vibram and uses the same material as the FiveFingers.

Then comes the True Glove (men) and Pure Glove (women), all rounder pair for training on common surfaces. The last model dubbed Tough Glove (men) and Power Glove (women) are aimed more at the city walkers looking for barefoot sensations in an urban looking package.

They surely are trying their best at Merrel and all models look to be decent shoes, but only wearing them will tell if they are true to the barefoot spirit. All info on Merrel’s website: http://www.merrell.com/US/en/Barefoot
