New Inov-8 Race Ultra 270 for long distance runners

In pursuit of ever lighter and better footwear, British brand Inov-8 is adding to its range of off-road shoes with the new Race Ultra 270.

Following on the steps of its heavier sister, the Race Ultra 290, the 270 is, you guessed, 20 grams lighter. The drop has also been reduced to bring the athlete closer to the ground. What was 8mm is now 4mm. The rest of the shoe is from the same great recipe that has made Inov-8 a go-to brand for many long distance runners.

Their ‘Standard’ fit allows for more room to let your feet spread as the race goes on. You’ll also find the polymer Meta-Shank, aligned with each individual metatarsal, delivering an extra kick of energy with every step while retaining impact protection.

International ultra runner Brendan Davies said:

“The RACE ULTRA 270 is the perfect shoe for racing long distances over trails. With the 4mm drop I still have a great feel of the ground underneath my feet but with superb comfort too.

The Meta-Shank gives me flexible and lightweight protection. It means I can run long distances and always be protected from the harsh sandstone that is a feature where I live in the Blue Mountains, Australia.

The grip is ideal for running long ultras. It really is a great all-rounder, offering superb traction on technical trails, both in dry and wet conditions. I also use it in training when a lot of my running is on fire trails. I’ve found the RACE ULTRA 270 really comfortable when running big miles in training.”

The Inov-8 Race Ultra 270 are available right now from any good retailer for around £110. Two colours for men and two for women.
