Pertex partners with Montane and Rab with its Shield+ and AP

Pertex is making a strong SS16 debut season with its AP waterproof breathable fabric and the new Shield+, 3-layer WP/B.

Pertex AP is a durable and high performance air-porous membrane and is already used by Montane in its Air jacket. Pertex Shield+ is what the company calls its lightest 3 layer fabric and has been designed for fast-paced activities like alpine climbing, cycling and skiing.

Rab is using Pertex Shield+ in its new Flashpoint jacket, with minimal seams and all micro-taped. The Flashpoint is their lightest waterproof jacket and weighs only 185g/7oz.

Montane are also using the new Shield+ in two new jackets this season: the Minimus 777 and the Minimus 777 Pull-on. Both shells have been designed for minimal weight: 140g and 135g respectively.

This is all good news for outdoor enthusiasts and ultra-lighters as Pertex Shield+ and AP seem to enable brands to make waterproof shells lighter than ever.
