Montane starts using Polartec NeoShell in new Fall/Winter range

Montane

British gear specialist Montane is now using the award-winning fabric from Polartec, NeoShell, in some of its latest hardshells. Just in time autumn showers and winter ski season, the Fast Alpine Stretch Neo might be the new jacket to own.

Well known for making high quality lightweight gear, Montane is adding NeoShell to a range previously dominated by eVents. While the later make generally good waterproof and breathable jackets, Polartec takes it to the next level with NeoShell.

The high-end of Montane’s new range is the Fast Alpine Stretch Neo. A no compromise shell designed for non-stop demanding physical activity like ice-climbing and backcountry adventures. It features a 3-layer construction with ‘Diamond Face’ reinforced face fabric paired with Polartec’s NeoShell Stretch. On the inside we will note the Pertex Microlight snow skirt and the helmet compatible hood. All this for a respectable weight of 595g /30oz in size M and a RRP £340.

The second addition to the NeoShell range is the Further Faster Neo, a more streamlined jacket trading NeoShell Stretch for the Light variant. NeoShell Light has the same waterproof and breathable credentials, no the stretch and less bulk. 100g less to be precise at 480g / 17oz in size M. The Montane Further Faster Neo is more designed for trail running and mountain marathons and will set you back around £230.
