inov-8 announced prior to ISPO Munich 2014 that its Race Ultra Vest along with two other products had been awarded by the judges of the trade show.
Continuing to push for innovation in the running sector, the English brand announced a new vest to complement its range of accessories. The Race Ultra Vest is fully made of stretch mesh and Airmesh. The form-fitting design is all about minimizing bounce while running but has plenty of storage. The seven pockets are all zip free thanks to the use of the mesh. Two of them can fit 500ml bottles and have been placed lower to make the bottles sit flatter on the side of the body. The whole pack weights a very low 195g.
To make it more versatile they have also included a removable insulated sleeve to support a reservoir in case you would want to carry more fluid for a race.
inov-8 founder Wayne Edy said
“Ultra distance runners demand the lightest, most comfortable, simple to use product possible – and that is exactly what we have delivered with the Race Ultra Vest.
inov-8 athlete Ben Abdelnoor tested a prototype of the Race Ultra Vest when obliterating the course record at the high-profile 2013 Ultra Tour Lake District 50-mile race, held over some of the UK’s toughest trails.
The two other awards go to the Race Ultra 290 shoe and Race Elite 315 Softshell Pro, both released this autumn and of which we’ll see more about later.
