Ricoh G700SE brings GPS and more to the rugged form factor

This week is Photokina week and new cameras are popping up all over the place. But for us adventurer, the latest 50M pixel camera from Hasselblad is useless. The new upgrade from Ricoh on the G700 however looks rather interesting.

Revealed a Photokina yersterday, the G700SE has the same body as the G700: waterproof, dustproof and shoclproof. What the SE version adds is the Wifi / Bluethooth connectivity as well as the possibility to had dongles to it.

The camera was shown with two dongles, a GPS receiver with compas for auto geotagging of your best pics and a bar code scanner. Availability is said to be early 2011 for a price tag around $1000. Ok it’s not cheap but it certainly is good quality.

Stay tunned for other rugged cameras, we’ll do a round up after Photokina.
